Welcome to Beckhoff Automation Malaysia!

Overview

Beckhoff implements open automation systems using proven PC-based control technology. The main areas that the product range covers are industrial PCs, I/O and Fieldbus components, drive technology, automation software, control cabinet-free automation, and hardware for machine vision. Product ranges that can be used as separate components or integrated into a complete and mutually compatible control system are available for all sectors. Our New Automation Technology stands for universal and industry-independent control and automation solutions that are used worldwide in a large variety of different applications, ranging from CNC-controlled machine tools to intelligent building control.

Since Beckhoff’s foundation in 1980, the development of innovative products and solutions on the basis of PC-based control technology has been the foundation of the company's continued success. We recognized many standards in automation technology that are taken for granted today at an early stage and successfully introduced to the market as innovations. Beckhoff’s philosophy of PC-based control as well as the invention of the Lightbus system and TwinCAT automation software are milestones in automation technology and have proven themselves as powerful alternatives to traditional control technology. EtherCAT, the real-time Ethernet solution, provides a powerful and future-oriented technology for a new generation of control concepts.

We will be showcasing its latest automation solutions for industrial challenges, namely the eXtended Transport System (XTS) and the XPlanar Flying Motion system, alongside our very own Vision technology.

Don’t miss out on our exciting innovations! Come and visit us at Setia SPICE Arena, Booth A1145.

  Press Releases

  • Beckhoff Vision: Hardware portfolio complements TwinCAT Vision software

Cameras, lenses, and illumination for a complete control-integrated vision solution

As a specialist in PC-based control technology, Beckhoff is constantly looking at ways to integrate all machine functionalities consistently into a single control platform. This also includes image processing on the software side since the launch of TwinCAT Vision in 2017. With the introduction of the comprehensive Vision hardware portfolio, this product area is now complete.

Beckhoff Vision offers machine builders and end users a complete image processing system that covers all the necessary components from software to illumination. Seamlessly integrated into EtherCAT-based control technology, it opens up significant competitive advantages for users, including highly accurate synchronization with all machine processes, reduced engineering and hardware costs, and simplified commissioning and support.

In addition to the TwinCAT Vision software, the Vision portfolio includes:

    • Cameras: The area cameras use color and monochrome CMOS sensors with a resolution of up to 24 megapixels and a 3.45 µm and 2.74 µm pixel grid to generate high-quality image data and offer a transmission rate of 2.5 GBit/s.
    • Lenses: The robust, industrial-grade C-mount lenses ensure easy handling and high availability and offer VIS and NIR-AR coating, up to 2 µm resolution and image circles of 11 mm (2/3 inch) and 19.3 mm (1.2 inches).
    • Lighting: The multi-color LED lighting in the three designs of area, ring and bar lighting generate constant lighting conditions for consistently high-quality images and create the best possible contrast difference between the test feature and the environment even in spectrally adjustable pulse mode.
    • Complete units (units) consisting of camera, lighting and focusable optics
  • XPlanar with mover identification and new mover variants

Additional functionality and mover variety for product transport with even more flexibility

The Beckhoff XPlanar planar motor system for levitating product transport with up to six degrees of freedom was launched on the market in 2018 and its functionality has been continuously expanded ever since. Products can now be handled with even more flexibility thanks to the new mover identification, movers for bidirectional operation on one tile, rectangular movers, and mover coupling.

The XPlanar bumpers with ID function enable unique identification of the XPlanar movers by reading out the individual serial number of the mover. The ID bumper is easy to mount or retrofit to the mover and requires no additional hardware. This makes it possible to seamlessly track movers and products – even after a power supply failure. In addition, there is no need for homing for the system startup if the application has been programmed appropriately.

The new APM4221 XPlanar mover, the second largest model in the APM4xxx family, is designed for a payload of up to 1 kg and is ideal for handling small products with high packing density. With dimensions of 127 x 127 mm, it can even be used in bidirectional operation on appropriately sized tiles, so that a complete production cycle, including recirculation, can be performed on the width of just one tile with minimal footprint. The same applies to the APM4230 rectangular mover, which is also new and measures 115 x 155 mm, for payloads of up to 0.8 kg. If a second track is added to the tile surface area, the APM4350 rectangular mover (155 x 235 mm), which is new as well, enables tridirectional transport of longer products weighing up to 3.0 kg.

The APM4550 XPlanar mover is the largest version (235 x 235 mm) and can transport a payload of up to 4.2 kg, making it the perfect device for handling larger, heavier products. More elaborate workpiece carriers and attached parts can also be used to meet individual requirements. Even payloads weighing far more than 4.2 kg can be transported and positioned with XPlanar: using an adapter, several movers can be fixed together mechanically; the payload increases linearly. If, for example, four of these movers are coupled, this results in a maximum payload of 14.8 kg when the adapter weight is deducted.

  Products

  • XPlanar
    levitating, contactless, intelligent!

    The XPlanar planar motor system:
    - 2D product transport with 6 degrees of freedom
    - free-floating planar movers
    - compact system design and reduced footprint...

  • Floating 2D product transport with up to six degrees of freedom

The intelligent XPlanar transport system combines the advantages of conventional systems and supplements them with a unique magnetic levitation technology. With its floating 2D product transport, the planar motor system opens up a whole host of new possibilities.

Users benefit from the individual freedom of movement afforded by driverless transport systems, with the ability to transport individual goods to any location via any route, either within a single machine or between several. In addition to this flexibility, XPlanar offers all the dynamics of a linear motor to facilitate cycle-time-optimized linking of individual production steps. XPlanar also simplifies individual production steps considerably, making the degrees of freedom and positioning accuracies familiar from robotics available for 6D product processing. For the first time ever, the transport system itself handles the positioning of a product during processing. The levitation effect replaces any need for mechanical guiding components, and cleaning and maintenance requirements are drastically reduced.

  • XTS
Intelligent transport systems for electric motor production from Beckhoff

    The eXtended Transport System XTS:
    - flexible motion profiles
    - highly compact linear transport system
    - rapid format changes up to a lot size of one...

  • With the XTS linear transport system, Beckhoff offers a proven drive solution in which magnetically driven movers move along a travel path of fully integrated motor modules. An Industrial PC with the TwinCAT automation software enables the independent control of the movers with individual motion profiles. This results in many system-related benefits: The transport system is ready for operation immediately after assembly, as power electronics and displacement measurement are included in the XTS motor modules and the movers are completely passive. Due to different geometries of the motor modules, both an open and a closed travel path can be created and the machine footprint can be reduced by individual track layouts. The XTS not only replaces conventional conveyor belts, but also enables an innovative design of the entire machine. With the flexible motion profiles, simple to highly complex processes can be realized and the entire manufacturing process can thus be optimized.

    How XTS increases productivity

    • local processing in the flowing product stream
    • elimination of downtimes at the processing stations
    • decoupling of the processing stations by moving buffer
    • production speed not determined by the slowest processing station
  • Vision
    Complete and system-integrated machine vision

    - camera, optics, illumination, accessories and software
    - unique advantages during installation thanks to EtherCAT P for communication and energy
    - an open vision solution for seamless system integration...

  • As a specialist for PC-based control technology, Beckhoff consistently aims to integrate all machine functionalities into one control platform.
