  • Semiconductor industry veteran joins CoorsTek as the importance of technical ceramics in scaling semiconductor processes becomes more critical

    Golden, Colorado, USA, July 9, 2018 ─ CoorsTek, the world’s leading technical ceramics manufacturer, today announced that David Lee has joined the company as Vice President – Commercial for its global semiconductor business. Mr. Lee joins CoorsTek from Applied Materials where he served most recently as the Managing Director of Global Business Development for Service and Spares.

    “David will help us build partnerships and strengthen our collaboration with customers worldwide,” said Patty Mishic, Chief Commercial Officer at CoorsTek. “Semiconductor processing equipment suppliers are challenged with scaling the density, power, and performance of ICs at a time when artificial intelligence, and autonomous vehicles, and the internet of things are driving exponential growth in data usage all around us,” she explains. “As experts in technical ceramics, CoorsTek partners with OEMs to engineer advanced components — helping them improve yields, increase throughput, and enable next-generation processes.”

    After serving as an Aerospace Engineer and Captain in the United States Air Force, David joined Applied Materials in 1995 as a senior plasma etch engineer. Over the past two decades Mr. Lee has led a variety of semiconductor product, technology, and commercial teams.

    Mr. Lee joins CoorsTek as it has been strengthening its advanced ceramic capabilities and growing its semiconductor business globally. In 2014, CoorsTek acquired Covalent Materials, formerly Toshiba Ceramics, including its R&D and operations in Japan. Then in 2016, the company added Philips Ceramics, with operations and development in Uden, The Netherlands.
