The company for clean air and clean water technology.

DAS Environmental Experts is a leading environmental technology company that provides sustainable solutions for waste gas treatment and wastewater treatment while minimizing resource usage.

Since 1991 we develop and produce client-specific point-of-use scrubbers for waste gas treatment, VOC removal and fine dust reduction.

Our products for waste gas abatement are characterized by a small footprint and high uptime. Our monitoring system ensures that our customers are able to monitor all of their machines at any time – even in Fabs larger than a football field.

  • 08.02.2018 - DAS Environmental Expert Taiwan opens new facility for advanced training and tool improvement in Waste Gas Treatment

Innovation and Service Center Opened in Taiwan
Today DAS Environmental Expert GmbH headquartered in Dresden, Germany, is celebrating the opening of its Asian Innovation and Support Center located in Hsinchu/Taiwan. The new facility will act as a global product training center to enhance service capability and quality. “We strongly believe in the concept of continuous improvement. Together with our customers we want to enhance frequent discussions to better support their technological roadmap.”, says Alex Shen, Vice President of DAS Asia.

DAS Environmental Expert GmbH, founded 1991 in Dresden, Germany, is one of the world’s leading technology and system providers for Point-of-Use process waste gas abatement solutions. World leading companies in the semiconductor and electronics industries along with those in the photovoltaic sector rely on DAS systems to provide cost efficient abatement of highly contaminated process waste gases. “In order to keep our leading position, we decided to invest in a service quality hub for whole Asia. Having our biggest installed base in Taiwan it was the right decision to strengthen our engagement here.” says René Reichardt, Managing Director of DAS Environmental Expert.

A totally new area of 334 m2 has been designed as training facility and showroom. At the same time, the local warehouse capacities have nearly been doubled to improve spare parts handling. The whole project was successfully realized within one year and came along with a 60 Mio. NTD investment. From now on, up to 40 DAS engineers can be trained at the same time passing up to 3 service training levels. Already in 2017 more than 150 service engineers are supposed to be trained here.

The training focus is on the burn/wet technology as applied in ESCAPE and STYRAX and wet scrubber systems such as SALIX. The specialty of the ESCAPE technology is the combination of two cleaning processes that typically cannot be combined within the limited space of a single small reactor: burning and scrubbing. The combination of these two processes enables the highly efficient abatement of most process waste gases while maintaining highest safety standards and offering a significant economic advantage. While in the past DAS focused mainly on the abatement needs of the semiconductor industry, DAS Environmental Expert GmbH has expanded its activities into neighboring sectors. With new products such as STYRAX, LARCH and SALIX, for instance, DAS reacts to the needs of the solar industry, the area of display manufacturing and the manufacturing of innovative LED technology products.

“We recently installed more than 3,000 systems and are very content with our continuous growth in annually installed systems, employees and revenue over the years”, Alex Shen adds. “We currently employ more than 170 people, roughly 80 per cent of them in Service. Last year’s turnover saw a sevenfold increase compared to 2009 alone.” The opening of the new facility in the MIT building, Gongdaowu Rd., was accompanied by respected guests and business partners from the leading Semiconductor companies in Taiwan.

  • SALIX - Wet Scrubber System
SALIX has been developed as an alternative to the application of switching boxes. The advantages are smaller and less complex exhaust-piping, smaller footprint and higher flexibility for process changes....

  • Operating Principle of the Wet Scrubber System SALIX

The waste gases are fed by up to twelve separate inlets into pre-scrubber using spray nozzles which eliminates any clogging at the input. The waste gases pass into the first scrubber stage and flow upwards through the first scrubber column filled with packing material. The column is supplied with the scrubbing liquid via spray nozzles. Due to the large surface of the packing material and the counter flow principle the optimal absorption of the waste gases is possible.

In the second stage a different scrubbing liquid is used. A demister is used to prevent the liquids from the two stages from mixing. The second scrubbing liquid allows an alternative chemistry to be used and so optimise the scrubbing of the waste gases. Ingredients of waste gases, which have not reacted in the first scrubber stage, can be better absorbed in the second scrubber stage. After the deposition of residual moisture of the gas flow in a demister the residual gases meet the strict standards of German air pollution law (TA Luft).

  • ESCAPE - burn/wet System for Waste Gase Treatment
All ESCAPE systems have a small footprint with service and maintenance access. Installation is easy and does not require specialised equipment. Operation costs and general safety can be optimised with a process tool interface....

  • Operating Principle of ESCAPE

Hazardous substances of process waste gases are abated directly from where they originate (Point-of-Use). Waste gases are fed into a ring-shaped burner apparatus. Depending on the chemical composition of the waste gases, various reactions take place (oxidation, reduction, pyrolysis).

In the subsequent scrubbing process, soluble, gaseous and solid compounds generated by combustion are absorbed and cooled down by a suitable scrubbing liquid. The immediate scrubbing neutralises combustion products such as hydrogen halides. With the application of ESCAPE within a holistic abatement concepts, manufacturers in the high-tech industry will meet the strict standards of the German air pollution law (TA Luft).

  • STYRAX - burn/wet System for Waste Gas Treatment
The development of the STYRAX product family bases for a modern waste gas treatment: PFC abatement and Reduced Maintenance Intervals. The gases are burnt from top to bottom. The scrubbing stage is optimized for HF. Water and lye consumption are minimized....

  • Operating Principle of STYRAX Waste Gas Treatment Systems

Hazardous substances of process waste gases are treated directly from where they originate (Point-of-Use). In this optimized burn/wet technology the gases are burnt from top to bottom. Depending on the chemical composition of the waste gases, various reactions take place (oxidation, reduction, pyrolysis). A fluid wall/film prevents corrosion and deposition of particles in the reactor. In the washing column next to the reactor, soluble components are absorbed and particles suspended. The scrubbing liquid cools down and neutralises combustion products such as hydrogen halides. With the application of STYRAX within a holistic abatement concepts, manufacturers in the high-tech industry will meet the strict standards of the German air pollution law (TA Luft).
