Multi-Channel, Low-Cost Temperature Controller with ADDED I/O
SCOTTS VALLEY, CA, June 1, 2018 - Digital Dynamics, Inc. (DDI) manufacturer of state-of-the-art I/O controllers for the semiconductor industry announced the rollout of their Universal EtherCAT Temperature Controller (UTC) which offers high channel count and low cost per channel.
The Universal EtherCAT Temperature Controller features 16 configurable building blocks that allow extensive customization of the number and type of temperature sensors and control signals provided. For example, the UTC could be configured to provide 64 PID heat loops using digital heater control. Another configuration, might use 32 PID heat loops, 8 analog out control loops, 8 digital cooling loops, with 16 extra digital outputs. Many other variations are possible by selecting desired resolution, filtering, update rate and number of channels. As a bonus, any I/O ports not being used by the heat control loops can be utilized for other control requirements.
The Universal EtherCAT Temperature Controller interfaces to the production line as an EtherCAT slave, but can also be configured to power-up in a predefined state. User configuration parameters are stored in non-volatile memory and programmed using a configuration application.
“We designed the Universal Temperature Controller in response to customer requests for a multi-channel temperature controller able to handle various kinds of sensors and heat control schemes,” said Ray Gorski, Vice-president of Sales and Marketing at DDI. “This new controller has up to 64 heat control loops with a spectacular price-per-channel ratio.”
All types of thermocouples are supported, with 2, 3, or 4 wire RTD or thermocouple inputs. Other features include: 50/60 Hz “phase angle firing” on all DOUTs, which distributes heater loads across the AC power cycle; PID Auto-tuning; set-point ramping; thermocouple resistance measurement for failure prediction; and much more.
Digital Dynamics, Inc. manufactures and distributes high quality I/O Controllers and related products in Scotts Valley, California. DDI is an ISO:9001 registered company with over 40 years of design and manufacturing experience, and a worldwide installed base of more than 50,000 advanced electronic control systems.
