    In Singapore, Watlow operates out of its facility located in Kian Teck Lane, where nearly 120 team members support the production of a wide range of advanced thermal products.   • Watlow®, a leading provider of industrial technology and thermal systems, welcomes Shiyi Zhou as its new regional president of Asia. Reporting directly to Rob Gilmore, Watlow’s chief executive officer (CEO), Zhou is responsible for the growth and profitability of Watlow in Asia. He is a member of Watlow’s executive team.

    The regional president of Asia is a new and critical role at Watlow, and some of Zhou’s specific responsibilities include the structure, design and execution of the Asia region’s commercial, marketing and customer strategy, including successful growth with Watlow’s customers and sales partners. He will also link local customers’ engineering and supply chain teams in-region with key leadership, technical and manufacturing resources globally to allow for concurrent global growth of key multinational accounts based in the region. Additionally, he will collaborate with Watlow’s business unit leadership on enterprise strategic commercial and technology roadmaps by offering regional “Voice of the Customer” opportunities and will advocate for product innovation necessary to drive regional growth.

    Zhou has 28 years of professional experience in both China and the U.S. and extensive sales and marketing experience in multiple industries. He also has proven experience in driving profitable growth by managing full regional and country P&Ls in China and in Asia Pacific.

    Before coming to Watlow, Zhou was the vice president of Asia Fire and Security Group in UTC/Carrier Corporation. He also spent 12 years with Eaton Corporation in China, where he held several management roles including China general manager for the Vehicle group, China general manager of the Hydraulics group, commercial director for the vehicle group for Asia Pacific and plant general manager for the Electrical group.

    Zhou holds a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology in China, a master’s degree in computer science from Georgia State University in Atlanta and an MBA from Georgetown University in Washington DC.

  • Watlow accelerates growth in Malaysia with expanded facility and long-term commitment to southeast Asia’s industrial development.

    Following the expansion and inauguration of its facility in Kulim Hi-Tech Park earlier this year, Watlow® Electric Manufacturing Co. has reaffirmed its commitment to driving innovation, sustainability, and high-tech manufacturing from Malaysia.

    A leader in industrial thermal solutions, Watlow sees Malaysia as a cornerstone of its Asia-Pacific strategy, positioning the country not just as a manufacturing base but also as a strategic hub for engineering, regional supply chain integration, and technology co-creation in industries such as semiconductors, automotive, electronics, and clean energy.

    The recent opening event, held on 24 February 2025, marked a significant step forward in Watlow’s continued expansion in the region. The new location at Rathi Legacy-Rohan Tech Park, Bangalore, officially opened on April 3, 2025, and represents a significant investment in the region’s rapidly growing technology and manufacturing ecosystem.   • The ULTRAMIC® ceramic heater from Watlow® are designed for thermal applications where the high performance of an advanced ceramic heater is required to ensure optimal effectiveness of the equipment and process. ULTRAMIC ceramic heaters are constructed of aluminum nitride (AlN) and incorporate a thermally matched proprietary heating element that provides maximum performance in challenging applications. AlN is especially suitable for applications requiring a clean, non-contaminating heat source. Additionally, the excellent geometric stability ensures consistent part-to-part thermal contact during heating cycles. Watlow AlN ceramic heater can operate up to 400°C or 600°C (752°F or 1112°C) depending on lead construction with an ultra-fast ramp rate of up to 150°C (270°F) per second depending on the application, heater design and process parameters. In addition to excellent thermal characteristics, ULTRAMIC ceramic heater have high electrical isolation and typically provides superior chemical resistance as compared to traditional metal heaters.
