PENANG, May 19, 2023 – Monitor ERP System Sdn. Bhd., Sweden's leading ERP system provider, introduces new functionality to track and report carbon dioxide emissions from the production at component level, to support manufacturers' sustainability journey. The company is committed to driving innovation and sustainability in the manufacturing industry through close collaboration with customers, partners, and key stakeholders in Malaysia.
Manufacturing companies face increasing climate-related risks and require innovative solutions to track sustainability in their production processes. Malaysia and Sweden are committed to reducing greenhouse emissions to become carbon neutral by 2050 and 2045 respectively. Integrating sustainability into daily operations is crucial for building long-term resilience and maintaining competitiveness. However, many businesses may not be clear on how to make this transition and take concrete steps toward sustainability. To address this challenge, Monitor ERP is driving awareness and supporting manufacturers in kickstarting their sustainability journey, helping them achieve both local and global sustainability goals while promoting organizational resilience.
Daniel Häggmark, Managing Director of Monitor ERP System Sdn. Bhd., said, "Our aim is to empower manufacturers to actively contribute to the circular economy by optimizing input and raw material utilization, minimizing waste, and safeguarding the environment. We understand the critical role of reducing carbon emissions and recognize its increasing value as a currency for companies in the future. With a focus on Industry 4.0, Monitor ERP aims to support manufacturers to stay ahead of the innovation and sustainability curve in the rapidly evolving manufacturing landscape. We are dedicated to continuously developing and enhancing our sustainability functionality within our business system. By improving operational efficiency, our solution not only promotes sustainability but also enhances productivity and bottom-line results.”
Monitor has developed functionality in its ERP system that is in line with sustainability requirements and new ways of working within this framework. This functionality allows manufacturing companies to track and report carbon dioxide emissions from the production of individual products to transportation and delivery. This is done by automatically calculating emissions using information stored in the ERP system, such as the carbon dioxide value for each raw material. Newly produced products based on material usage and the energy mix on-site can also be stored.
The functionality also enables businesses to evaluate and compare suppliers based on their emissions during transport. By measuring carbon dioxide emissions per year and per area, companies can make informed decisions and select the most environmentally friendly option for their orders. The goal is to integrate sustainability into day-to-day operations and make it part of the budget process, with emissions acting as the currency. This level of detail empowers companies to take concrete action and drive their sustainability goals forward.
Partnership with Business Sweden
Monitor ERP actively participated in the highly influential Pioneer the Possible platform, initiated by Business Sweden, fully supported by Team Sweden, and implemented in cooperation with the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC). This dynamic platform aims to accelerate Malaysia's transition towards a sustainable economy by supporting Swedish companies in Malaysia in fulfilling their ambition and priorities on sustainability. The platform focuses on three key priority themes in line with Malaysian and Swedish capabilities: green production, green mobility, and sustainable urban development. The platform was motivated by a strong commitment from the Swedish business community such as Atlas Copco, Axis Communications, IKEA, Volvo Cars, and Volvo Truck.

Monitor ERP's commitment to excellence in the manufacturing industry has been recognized through numerous awards, including the "Sustainable Factory" category at the Factory Innovation Awards 2023 in Hannover, Germany, the Best ERP System competition in Sweden and Germany, and the prestigious Export Hermes Award for global expansion.
