  • Isolite was founded in 1927 in Osaka by the late Dr. Tosaku Yoshioka, who was a professor at the Kyoto Imperial University
at the time. He came up with the idea of using diatomite, which was plentiful in the soils of the Noto Peninsula, to produce
Insulating Fire Bricks to help domestic industries conserve energy amidst a scarcity of fuel resources.
In April of the following year, Isolite built a plant in front of Wakuraonsen Station in Ishikawa Prefecture, and started the
production of thermal insulation bricks. Ever since, the company has strived to stay true to its principles and advance its
    technical capabilities.
In 1962, Isolite began the mass production of top-quality Insulating Fire Bricks by introducing the technologies of an
American corporation - Babcock & Wilcox (B&W). In 1967, Isolite and B&W have jointly established Isolite Babcock
Refractories Co., Ltd. (merged into Isolite in 1988) and started the domestic production of ceramic fi bers (now known as
    ISOWOOL).
In 2020, Isolite merged with ITM Co., Ltd., a company that had built a unique standing as an all-around manufacturer of
ceramic fi ber and alumina fi ber. Through such business endeavors, we will continue to work to grow even stronger as a
leading company in the fi eld of high-temperature heat insulation material that can offer a vast product portfolio and the
    world-class technology.

Isolite and its group companies manufacture and sell high temperature insulating refractory
materials, such as Insulating Firebricks and high temperature Ceramic Fiber, to advance energy
saving in the thermal industry. We leverage our technical capabilities in porosifi cation and
Ceramic Fiber production to deliver new high temperature products which is exceeding 1000°C.
Our technologies not only help save energy in the thermal industry but broadly contributes to
society as well, in areas such as disaster prevention and environmental protection.

In addition to Insulating Firebricks, the foundation of our growth as a company, we also provide
high temperature Ceramic Fiber. With its ability to deliver excellent insulation while also being
lightweight and having a low heat storage capacity, high temperature Ceramic Fiber is used
for high temperature insulation in a wide range of industries, including steel, petrochemicals,
ceramics, and industrial furnaces. We also use this material to produce high performance
molded insulation products, which have been greatly acclaimed in the market for their durability,
operability, and quality that in turn serves to advance the quality of thermal industry products.
Furthermore, our engineering department helps save energy by proposing, designing, and
building thermal insulation for various industrial furnaces. More recently, we have been
developing and providing Alkaline Earth Silicate wool (Bio Soluble Fiber) and microporous (LTC)
    products.
