Toplus Energy was founded in 2008. The core members come from ITRI’s fuel cell team and dedicate to fuel cell R&D and production. Toplus Energy insists on designing and manufacturing fuel cell stack by ourselves since establishment. With professional and critical technology, Toplus Energy provides localized products with high customization and great stability.

We participated in the Energy Bureau demonstration operation project during 2009-2014. In this period, Toplus Energy invested a lot of resources to verify and establish the technical feasibility and stability of the fuel cell as a backup power for telecom base station.

To meet the growing demand for hydrogen gas during semiconductor manufacturing, Toplus developed the Electrochemical Hydrogen Purifier (ECHP). The system is an economical solution for reusing hydrogen emission. The product features are as followed :

1. Operating under ambient pressure, while conventional purification strategies require high-pressure conditions.

2. Hydrogen gas is efficiently separated from Nitrogen gas and Argon gas with a recycled rate > 80%.

In 2021, our Electrochemical Hydrogen Purifier (ECHP) obtained SEMI S2 certification for its performance, reliability, and safety. Therefore, the system is able to be applied in advanced semiconductor plants.

  • Product Introduction

    Established in 2020, Electrochemical Hydrogen Purifier (ECHP) is the first commercial HPR for waste hydrogen and by-product hydrogen.

    Unlike other high-risk methods, the adoption of electrochemical process allows the operation under ambient pressure and low temperature. Moreover, the ECHP shows better performance of inert gas elimination than traditional PSA method.

    It is suitable for metal heat treatment, gas chromatography (GC), analytical instrument carrier gas, GaN epitaxy, III/V and II/VI MOCVD.

    This feature enables our Electrochemical Hydrogen Purifier (ECHP) to obtained SEMI S2 certification for its performance, reliability, and safety in 2021, and it can be used in semiconductor factories.

    Principle

    A. Hydrogen & Nitrogen mixed gas enter the anode side.

    B. The hydrogen atoms dissociate into electrons and hydrogen ions, and only hydrogen ions can pass through the membrane to the cathode side.

    C. The electrons arrive the cathode through external circuit. The reaction rate will increase with increasing voltage.

    D. Other gas like nitrogen gas can’t pass through the membrane, as the result, they are discharged.

    E. The hydrogen ions and electrons recombine to hydrogen molecular at cathode side.

    Product Features:

    A. Remove water and oxygen to < 1 ppm from inlet gas.

    B. It has low pressure loss and is easy to transport.

    C. Compared with molecular sieve, porous ceramics produce less dust. It delivers better purification efficiency than zeolite roller as well.

    Principle

    The internal structure is comprised of plenty of ceramic tube with a diameter of 1 mm and installed in stainless steel device. The microporous inside the tube can quickly adsorb gas molecules. Due to weak adsorption capacity, hydrogen will pass the tube rapidly to achieve the purpose of separating it from other gas.

    Fibers can be made of different molecular sieve materials to remove (recycle) pollutants in the gas stream, including VOC、O2、CO2、CH4、H2S、NH3、H2O, etc.

    The Methanol Hydrogen Generator used with the fuel cell can replace high-pressure hydrogen tanks. Therefore, it saves the cost of business operation, increases safety and extends operation life, which is suitable for practical application.

    Feature

    A. High security:It doesn’t need to store hydrogen tanks on site. Hydrogen can be produced by using 59% methanol water without inventory restriction by law.

    B. Low cost:It can replace the high-pressure hydrogen tanks. 2 tons of 59% methanol water can produce 1400 m3 hydrogen, which is equivalent to 122 hydrogen tanks.

    C. Hydrogen purity:It is greater than 99.99%, which can be used in related processes.
