Heraeus Printed Electronics with its Prexonics® technology offers advanced particle-free metal inks matched with precision inkjet printing equipment and the system know-how to fulfill the complex requirements of modern electronics manufacturing.

Precision and Efficiency in Electronic Coatings

  • Our system features the specially formulated Prexonics® particle-free silver ink and the Prexonics® inkjet printer, both engineered for effective 2.5D selective coating. This innovative approach allows for inkjet printing of precise pattern layouts, meeting the needs of miniaturization in electronics packaging.

Customized Thin Metallization Film

  • Our digital prining technology enables the manufacturing of metallization films ranging from 150 nm to 5 μm, with conductivity levels at 20-50% of bulk silver. Central to our system is the Prexonics® Image Processor that accurately transforms CAD designs into precisely coated components. The entire process, encompassing pre-treatment, inkjet printing, and sintering into a metallic silver film, is automated and fulfills the highest industry standards.

The tool fulfills the standards of the semiconductor industry, and its mass production capability is proven.

  • The industrial scale inkjet printer processes magazines of 300 mm ring carriers on which the components to coat are placed. All process steps are automated and inline: components pre-treatment , inkjet printing of the MOD metal ink and sintering to a metallic silver film.

EMI shielding of semiconductor packages

  • This additive manufacturing method is especially suited for EMI shielding of semiconductor packages to secure signal integrity in 5G applications. Shielding effectiveness studies run at a specialized renowned institute confirm that the applied silver film with 2 µm thickness, which is inkjet-coated at the ideal, material saving aspect ratio of 1:1 (side wall to top side), provides excellent shielding performance.
