A spin-out from the University of Cambridge and incorporated in 2022, Nanomation is a semiconductor software company that enables the automated fabrication of devices that integrate advanced semiconducting nanomaterials.
Nanomation’s unique automated solution for nanomaterial device fabrication enables the widespread use of nanomaterials for applications including computer memory, sensors and quantum devices.
The company’s patent-protected technology uses image processing to automatically design circuit layouts around individual semiconducting nanostructured materials. The software creates a circuit layout which is aligned to individual nanometre scale structures and is fully compatible with existing imaging and manufacturing processes. The computer vision-driven solution is suitable for any material type and imaging system, with fully customisable circuit design.
Nanomation’s software makes nanomaterial device fabrication approximately 10,000 times faster, and enables rapid material characterisation, allowing more efficient materials research and integration in advanced commercial semiconductor applications.
The technology has been validated across multiple research settings. Following participation in the University of Cambridge’s flagship accelerator programme and having raised pre-seed investment, the company is looking to work with Taiwanese partners to refine product features and meet market needs.
