Overview
Wave Photonics is advancing photonic integrated circuit (PIC) design technology to accelerate the mass production and adoption of integrated photonics. The company brings together the expertise of Dr. James Lee and Dr. Matthew Anderson—developed through research at Toshiba’s Quantum Information Group and Cambridge University—and Mateusz Kubica’s decade-long experience in statistical modelling and optimisation.
At the core of Wave Photonics’ patent-pending innovation is a design platform that integrates fabrication process characterisation, modelling, photonic simulation, and inverse design to develop process design kits (PDKs) across various materials and wavelengths. This flexibility enables applications in Co-Packaged Optics (CPO), transceivers, and quantum technologies.
Wave Photonics’ PDKs demonstrate lower loss and reduced sensitivity to process variations compared to conventional designs. These have been validated and are undergoing testing in a high-volume commercial fab. The company has also developed the world’s most expansive PDK focused on quantum applications, showcasing the scalability and speed of its approach.
Compatibility with leading electronic design automation tools is ensured through partnerships with Cadence, Siemens, and Luceda Photonics. With growing demand for energy-efficient chips, Wave Photonics is actively seeking foundry and design partners for datacom, CPO, and quantum applications.
