Overview

In recent years, the development of chips has become the core of promoting technological progress, and the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) has become the driving force for breakthroughs and innovations in all industries in the future. It is internationally recognized that AI is the key technology of this wave of industrial revolution, and it will also affect all aspects of global politics, economy, society, and life in the following decades.

The government proposed the “Taiwan Chip-based Industrial Innovation Program” (CbI) to meet the opportunities and challenges of future industrial technological changes. The first phase of this program was launched in 2024. Its primary mission is to leverage Taiwan’s world-leading position in semiconductor chip manufacturing and combine key technologies, such as AI, to develop innovative applications. Moreover, CbI aims to lay the groundwork for Taiwan's leap into the future by accelerating innovation development across all sectors.

【Four Strategic Themes】

  1. Leveraging AI and Chips to drive industrial innovation
  2. Building a Robust Semiconductor Ecosystem
  3. Enhancing Competitiveness through R&D on Heterogeneous Integration and Advanced Technologies
  4. Positioning Taiwan as the Global Epicenter for IC Startups

In the face of the latest wave of technological innovation, we must seize the golden moment for international collaboration, promote the cross-ministry program, and work with industry and academia to strengthen our leading edge in semiconductors and AI applications. This program will pave the way for a new era of industrial innovation in Taiwan, ensuring the nation’s technological leadership and competitiveness for decades to come.
