Smartkem (Nasdaq: SMTK) manufactures patented TRUFLEX® semiconductor inks for a new class of semiconductor polymer transistors, poised to revolutionise the display industry
Innovative Semiconductor Inks:
Smartkem’s unique inks enable low-temperature printing (80°C vs. the industry standard of 300°C+), significantly reducing manufacturing costs and energy use. These processes are compatible with existing manufacturing infrastructure, allowing easy technology transfer to current fabrication lines and potentially delivering low-cost, high-performance displays.
Advanced Interlayer Dielectric Materials:
Smartkem has developed photoimageable interlayer dielectric materials for OTFTs, commercialized for planarization layers, redistribution layers, and pixel definition layers.
TRUFLEX® features include:
• Uniform planarization of micron-high features
• Low stress, shrinkage, and warpage
• Direct lithography-formed photoimageable films
• Low Dk/Df values
• High adhesion to various metals
Research and Development:
In March 2024, Smartkem announced a technology transfer agreement with the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) in Taiwan for product prototyping, as part of their commercialisation strategy to provide global display manufacturers access to foundry services using Smartkem’s technology.
Applications:
Smartkem’s OTFTs are used in MicroLED, MiniLED, and AMOLED displays for next-gen TVs, laptops, AR/VR headsets, smartwatches, and smartphones, as well as in sensors and logic circuits.
