Center for Innovative Integrated Electronic Systems (CIES), Tohoku University (Director: Prof. Tetsuo Endoh) has managed CIES Consortium, which consists of industry–academic collaborations, national projects, and community-based cooperation projects through our cooperation with a diverse range of companies from fields such as materials, equipment, devices, circuits and systems. Especially, in the consortium, CIES has driven R&D of non-volatile memory (STT-MRAM) and GaN-on-Si power devices from material/device/process to LSI/system.
So far, dozens of companies worldwide have participated in the consortium and multiple innovative technologies have been developed with world-first 300mm wafer process line and facilities for prototype manufacturing and characterizing spintronics integrated circuits compatible with world-class companies. Some of them have been emerged as the successful results in view of the production phase.
