Most importantly, Adaptsys Carrier Tape is produced using premium quality material within strict production guidelines, ensuring a strong and consistent form on every pocket created. The tri-layer material used for the Adaptsys Carrier Tape forming process comprises Polystyrene, Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene and Polystyrene. This becomes pliable under the application of heat, providing the required state for forming – in turn, as the material returns to the ambient temperature, the result is a rigid, protective pocket.
PS-ABS-PS oﬀers improved dimensional stability and increased strength over conventional polystyrene, making it a suitable material for many mechanical applications. Due to its static dissipative properties, a safe environment can be provided for components/devices where ESD sensitivity is a consideration.
For the forming process of this material, Adaptsys have developed a system that reduces cost whilst still providing a consistent pocket every time. With the integration of vision, each pocket formed can be inspected and scrutinised for any imperfection, thus providing a robust tracking system capable of complete traceability and reporting.
