Gurley Precision Instruments (GPI) is a world leader in the manufacturing of Optical Encoders for precision position & speed feedback in the semiconductor industry. Our encoder designs are currently used on some of world's largest commercial semiconductor wafer handling robots. We offer enclosed & modular encoders with resolutions up to 24-bits, accuracies down in the single-digit arcsec levels, spread over various platforms (from 8mm to over 12 inches in diameter).

GPI also offers a full line of Optics & Optographics components, specializing in the generation & replication of precision optical patterns & parts such as reticles, resolution targets, encoder discs & scales, prisms, mirrors, beam splitters, filters, lenses & step wedges. The patterns are commonly vacuum deposited chrome on glass. We also work with other materials such as silver, inconel, aluminum, and photographic emulsion.
