In 2021, YXLON released the new version of its popular Cheetah EVO and Cougar EVO microfocus systems, now offering:

  • FF CT software allowing for enhanced laminography with micro3Dslice yet still compatible with Volume Graphics software and the corresponding analysis tools
  • New high-resolution ORYX 1616 flat-panel detector with 1280 x 1280 pixels, and a 50% improved FOV extension

  • New Release of YXLON Cheetah and Cougar EVO

    On January 13, 2021, Yxlon presented the new release of the Cheetah and Cougar EVO microfocus X-ray families in three online events. Under the motto 'Innovation is key to Evolution - Evolution empowers you', the next step towards automation was demonstrated and new options were presented that significantly increase efficiency in the X-ray inspection of electronic components.
    Laminography with micro3Dslice in the Yxlon systems is not new but the visualization with the FF CT software, which is now integrated as standard, means 3D images of a new level of brilliance and detail. At the same time, the software remains compatible with Volume Graphics and the corresponding analysis tools.
     
    Concurrently, a new high-resolution flat-panel detector, the ORYX 1616 with a size of 1280 x 1280 pixels, has been introduced that offers a field-of-view extension of 50% compared to the standard version. This means a much better overview and faster work processes due to reduced work steps in automatic sequences. The optimized electronics of the detector enable higher speed and better stability in 24/7 use. Moreover, the ORYX 1616 not only has an improved radiation resistance but can also work with a much lower radiation dose due to its sensitivity. For particularly sensitive test parts, Yxlon also offers the Dose Reduction Kit to reduce X-ray radiation to the absolute minimum and thus protect the test parts even better.
     
    Another highlight is the optional High Load Capacity, a loading unit that, thanks to its special mechanics, can manipulate even multiple or heavy parts weighing up to 20 kg easily, precisely, and without interference. It finds particular use in the inspection of electronics within a closed housing, as is increasingly the case with electric vehicles, for example, or in the efficient check of multiple parts in a single test process.
     
    The YXLON Cheetah and Cougar EVO families in their specific configurations are specially used in the SMT and Semicon sector when the Plus variants mainly support laboratory applications in research and development.

    High-Resolution Industrial CT System for Fine Parts Inspection

    The YXLON FF20 CT computed tomography system is designed to achieve the best 3D inspection results at very high resolution. Whether for R&D, defect analysis, process monitoring, or CT metrology, the FF20 CT is ideally suited for inspection of a variety of very small components from the electronics and material science industries.

    System Capabilities

    The FF20 CT is a compact, high-resolution computed tomography system, perfectly suited for inspection of your small items such as:

    Based on a new, innovative operation concept, the FF20 CT has been designed for low-temperature expansion and precise inspection item manipulation with high repeatability and measurement capability.

    The 190 kV transmission X-ray tube is newly developed and achieves detail visibility in radioscopy of up to 150 nm. With a focus on usability, system control is accomplished via two touchscreens displaying easy-to-understand graphics. Intelligent functionality supports the user: As an example, ‘IntelliGuard’ avoids collision with X-ray tube and detector by automatically determining the outer shape of the inspection item during a 360° rotation. 

    CT trajectories such as ‘HeliExtend’ (helical CT scan and reconstruction method) provide consistently good image quality from top to bottom and capture elongated specimens with a high magnification scan.

    The ability to select your own center of scan rotation using a ‘virtual rotation axis’ (FlexCenter) offers considerable comfort and saves time. The inspected item need not be repositioned if regions of interest fall outside the physical center of rotation.

    A system health monitor gives you information on various parameters. Results are consolidated and displayed in a ‘traffic light’ representation. Additionally, you can access this health status and the progress of CT (and reconstruction) from your office through the remote monitoring feature.
