Tohoku University, CIES / Power Spin Inc. (PSI)
CIES, Tohoku Univ. has conducted R&D of three core technologies of spintronics, AI hardware and power electronics from materials, devices and manufacturing to ICs, system and software. CIES has managed the consortium with a diverse range of companies and developed innovative technologies with world-first 300mm process line of spintronics/CMOS hybrid LSI under academic operation and facilities for its prototype manufacturing and characterizing ICs compatible with world-class companies. Some have achieved the successful results of the production phase. CIES will contribute to the realization of carbon neutrality with ultra-low power technologies.
PSI (https://powerspin.co.jp/en/) was established in 2018 to accelerate social implementation and commercialization of Tohoku Univ.’s technologies including patents and design IPs. PSI provides customers with the right to use commercialization patents and design IPs to support their product development, mass production, and other commercialization activities. PSI also undertakes the prototyping and evaluation of TEG-ICs and LSIs from STT-MRAMs / SOT-MRAMs to AI/IoT Processors on customer request.
