Our bimetal transitions are used in cryogen delivery lines where the low thermal conductivity of stainless steel transitions directly to the high thermal conductivity of aluminum. In semiconductor manufacturing Atlas chambers and components ensure precise control and significantly reduced contamination during deposition processes, complex etching, ion implantation, and wafer handling. We’ve also helped NASA JPL, Benchmark Space Systems, Los Alamos National Labs, CERN and many more.

  • Custom HV, UHV & XHV Vacuum Chambers
    Atlas Aluminum vacuum chambers have excellent high vacuum (HV) and ultra high vacuum (UHV) properties. For many applications, aluminum is a superior UHV chamber material offering less H2, H2O, and hydrocarbon vapor at HV and UHV levels and less carbon contamination than stainless steel. This reduces the amount of carbon-based gas contamination in vacuum. Atlas manufactures UHV aluminum chambers with a thin, dense aluminum oxide coating. This serves as a resistive barrier, reducing diffusion and desorption of HV and UHV contaminates. Once baked, Atlas’ aluminum vacuum chambers generally cycle to HV and UHV levels faster than stainless steel chambers and require less pumping.

    • 7 orders of magnitude less H2 than stainless for ultra pure vacuum

  • Bimetal Al/SS CF Flanges – all-metal sealing for aluminum vacuum chambers
    The Atlas Bimetal Al/SS CF Flange combines the durability of the stainless steel ConFlat (CF) knife edge with an aluminum flange body for all-metal sealing and welding to an aluminum chamber. This allows vacuum engineers and designers to fully utilize the high (HV), ultrahigh (UHV) and extreme high (XHV) vacuum properties of aluminum.

    Bimetal Al/SS CF Flanges – all-metal titanium sealing to aluminum chambers
    The Atlas Bimetal Ti/Al CF Flange with aluminum flange body bonded to rugged titanium features a reliable ConFlat® (CF) knife-edge seal. After welding the flange to an aluminum vacuum chamber, it becomes a completely non-magnetic UHV chamber, thus supporting applications where high magnetic permeability is detrimental to beam quality or experimental results.

    The Atlas Titanium CF Flange offers all-metal UHV/XHV sealing to a titanium chamber for outstanding vacuum performance. The flange body and ConFlat (CF) knife-edge seal are manufactured of titanium for applications requiring rugged durability, low weight, and non-magnetic permeability.

    Bimetal Al/SS Wire Seal Flanges – the demountable flange for large UHV sealing surfaces
    When size requirements for demountable flanges exceed that of standard Atlas CF Flanges, our bimetallic Wire-Seal Flanges are the choice. These large, lightweight flanges enable you to utilize the many superior vacuum, physical, chemical, and nuclear properties of UHV aluminum vacuum chambers.

    Bimetal Al/SS Face Seal Fittings – the aluminum tube fitting with a stainless steel face-seal
    Atlas Face Seal Fittings enable robust, demountable use of aluminum tubing in cryogenics, physics research, and semiconductor applications where high thermal conductivity and high chemical resistance is required. Fittings are fully compatible with Swagelok VCR® and Parker-Hannifin VacuSeal® designs.

    Bimetal Al/SS Tube & Pipe Transition Fittings – high-strength fittings for extreme conditions
    Atlas bimetallic transition fittings enable the direct coupling of dissimilar metal tubes and pipes with different thermal conductivities. Used in cryogenic, nuclear, and industrial applications requiring contrasting heat transfer or where the properties of one metal must be reliably switched to that of another.

    Bimetal Al/SS Quick Disconnect Fittings – easy tube joint connections for aluminum systems
    Quickly and easily connect tubular vacuum components such as feedthroughs, gauges, and glass tubing to aluminum vacuum systems. Fittings are comprised of a body, gasket, retainer, and nut. The retainer and nut are stainless, and an Atlas bimetallic transition joins the stainless sealing body to the aluminum body for weld-up to an aluminum vacuum vessel.
