Overview
At the heart of Colorado State University’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering lies a mission to push the boundaries of innovation across foundational and emerging technologies. The department’s research spans six core areas: Biomedical Engineering, Communications & Signal Processing, Computer Engineering, Controls & Robotics, Electromagnetics & Remote Sensing, and Lasers & Photonics — fields in which CSU faculty and students regularly produce high-impact work. Through advanced laboratory facilities — including the DSP Lab, Electromagnetics Lab, electronic-photonic system design lab, embedded systems and photonics labs, and the Extreme Ultraviolet Science and Technology Center — the department turns theory into practice, creating devices and systems such as micro-fluidic biosensors, high-performance computing architectures, remote-sensing sensors for Earth and atmospheric observation, integrated photonic circuits for communication, computing, and sensing, and powerful laser systems.
