Precision Grinding Tools for Difficult-to-Machine Materials

Overview

IBARAKI GRINDING WHEEL is a specialized manufacturer of precision grinding tools.
We develop and manufacture resinoid ultrathin cut-off wheels, diamond and CBN electroplated tools, and patented wire-mesh grinding wheels. From silicon and fine ceramics to composite materials, we help customers improve machining quality, efficiency, and material utilization.

Ultrathin cut-off wheels and electroplated tools are manufactured at our factory in Joso City, Japan. Key processes—from forming and electroplating to finishing and inspection—are managed in-house under an ISO 9001:2015-certified quality management system.
We support custom products, small-lot prototypes, and volume production.

We combine three distinct grinding-tool technologies—ultrathin cut-off wheels, electroplated tools, and wire-mesh grinding wheels—to address a wide range of machining challenges. Our strength lies in designing tools around the workpiece material, required shape, machine specifications, and target quality.

  Products

  • Diamond & CBN Electroplated Tools
Custom-designed electroplated tools for difficult-to-machine materials and complex shapes....

  • Diamond or CBN abrasive grains are fixed in a single layer onto a metal body by nickel electroplating. The high grain concentration and large grain exposure provide sharp cutting action and efficient chip removal. We design custom tools based on drawings, workpiece materials, machine conditions, and required accuracy. Complex shapes, prototypes, small lots, and volume production are available.

    MAIN APPLICATIONS

⚫︎Silicon, SiC, GaN, and electronic component materials

⚫︎Components for semiconductor manufacturing equipment and FPD manufacturing equipment

    ⚫︎Custom tools for equipment integration

    ⚫︎Fine ceramics

    ⚫︎Cemented carbide

  • Wire Mesh Grinding Wheels
Patented wheel design with superior chip evacuation — efficient, high-quality machining of difficult-to-cut materials....

  • CFRP (carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic), alumina, and optical glass have long been regarded as difficult to grind: poor chip evacuation causes the wheel to clog, making high-efficiency, high-quality machining hard to achieve.

The wire-mesh grinding wheel employs a patented design in which diamond is electroplated onto a wire mesh or an ultra-thin base metal. The resulting high chip-evacuation performance enables machining of these difficult-to-cut materials with high efficiency, high quality, and low cost.

In CFRP, the diamond grains shear the carbon fibers finely—as if shaving through them—while in brittle materials such as alumina and optical glass they remove stock in fine increments. This suppresses burrs, delamination, and chipping, delivering a high-quality finish.
