Meet APS Materials, 50 years of thermal spray expertise!

Overview

APS Materials, Inc. is a Thermal Spray Coating service provider located in Dayton, Ohio, USA.  Our 60,000 square-foot HQ facility offers Semiconductor, Biomedical, Aerospace, Automotive, Energy and Jobshop coatings.

The semiconductor division supplies Yttria, Aluminum Oxide, Zirconia, Silicon, Boron Carbide, and a broad range of other metals, ceramics, and carbide coatings.   We are the market leader in Applied Materials 0021-01421 and 0040-02544 DPS chamber 200mm upper body refurbishment for A-Coat replacement.

Coatings are applied through standard sub-sonic atmospheric plasma spraying, High-Velocity Oxy-Fuel (HVOF), Low-Pressure (Vacuum Plasma), controlled chamber inert-atmosphere, and supersonic Mach I & II velocity spray technologies.

We offer total refurbishment including anodizing and plating, ultrasonic cleaning, and Cleanroom packaging, ready for installation.

  Press Releases

  • APS Materials, Inc. is proud to celebrate its 50th anniversary as a pioneer in thermal spray coatings. Over the years, the company has advanced surface protection technologies across aerospace, biomedical, industrial, and semiconductor industries. In 1994, APS brought this expertise to the semiconductor industry, partnering with leading equipment manufacturers to deliver innovative coating and refurbishment solutions.

Over the past five decades, APS has grown from a single-location operation into a trusted partner serving clients worldwide. With facilities and partnerships that extend across North America, Europe, and Asia, APS continues to expand its reach and deliver quality coating solutions that meet the rigorous demands of a global market.

As part of its anniversary year, APS will participate in SEMICON® West 2025, held October 7–9 at the Phoenix Convention Center. The company will exhibit at Booth 6571 in the North Building, Lower Level, Halls 1–6, where attendees can learn more about APS’s latest innovations in thermal spray coating technologies.

By choosing APS, semiconductor manufacturers gain longer component lifespans, improved process stability, and more predictable tool performance—all backed by decades of expertise in advanced thermal spray coatings. Whether you need a single refurbished part or ongoing chamber lifecycle support, APS delivers consistent quality and measurable improvements in throughput. Our DPS chamber solutions provide a cost-effective alternative to OEM replacements while maintaining production reliability.
  • Electro-static Chuck (ESC), 200mm Dual He HDPCVD
High-performance Electrostatic Chucks (ESC): our ultra-pure, dense dielectric coatings deliver high breakdown voltage (4,000+ V), fast de-chucking, and long operating life. Enhance your ESC with superior durability and reliable process performance....

  • APS Materials engineers advanced solutions for extending the life and performance of Electrostatic Chucks (ESCs), a critical component in semiconductor wafer processing. Our proprietary dielectric coatings are specifically designed for durability, purity, and reliability, ensuring stable wafer clamping and consistent process performance over extended operating cycles.

Each ESC is treated with ultra-dense, high-purity dielectric materials that deliver breakdown voltages exceeding 4,000 V, significantly enhancing safety margins while maintaining strong electrostatic holding forces. The coatings are optimized to resist thermal cycling, chemical attack, and particle generation, which are leading causes of ESC degradation. By reducing contamination and wear, APS helps fabs maintain higher yields and minimize downtime.

In addition to exceptional dielectric strength, APS coatings allow for fast and efficient de-chucking, improving throughput and reducing risk of wafer damage during handling. Our processes ensure compatibility with OEM specifications, whether you require full refurbishing or a core-exchange solution tailored to your production schedule.

Semiconductor manufacturers rely on APS ESC refurbishments not only to cut replacement costs but also to extend tool reliability and stability. The result is lower cost of ownership, longer ESC lifespan, and more predictable process performance. With decades of experience in plasma-resistant coatings and thermal spray technologies, APS delivers consistent, repeatable results that keep fabs running at peak efficiency.

From R&D labs to high-volume manufacturing, our ESC solutions provide a proven alternative to costly OEM replacements, helping you achieve operational efficiency without sacrificing quality. APS ensures that every refurbished ESC meets the demands of modern semiconductor environments, where uptime, precision, and cleanliness are paramount.

  • Ceramic coatings for di-electric protection
APS Materials delivers high-purity ceramic thermal spray coatings for dielectric protection across industries, offering durable insulation, reduced particle generation, and superior performance in harsh electrical and plasma environments....

  • APS Materials specializes in advanced ceramic thermal spray coatings engineered for dielectric protection in demanding environments. Our coatings, including high-purity alumina, yttria, and alumina-titania blends, provide exceptional electrical insulation, low leakage current, and resistance to plasma erosion. Applied by controlled plasma spray processes, these dense, uniform coatings adhere strongly to metallic substrates, ensuring durability under thermal cycling and high-voltage stress. With proven use in semiconductor manufacturing equipment, electrostatic chucks, and other components exposed to harsh plasma or electrical discharge conditions, APS coatings minimize particle generation and extend service life. The combination of high breakdown strength, chemical resistance, and dimensional stability makes them ideal for applications requiring reliable dielectric barriers in vacuum, high-temperature, or corrosive operating environments. Our custom formulations and precise deposition techniques meet stringent industry requirements for performance and longevity.
